   These units are often seen on motor vehicle batteries in the U.S. The amps involved are ordinary amperes of electric current. "Cranking amps" measure the current supplied by the battery when starting the vehicle at a temperature of 32 °F (0 °C), while "cold cranking amps" measure the current supplied at 0 °F (-17.8 °C).
